Hye Rim Park for Grazia Korea

We have had a lot of successes with our models, but few make us as proud as that of Hye Rim Park.  When we scouted Hye there were really no working Asian supermodels.  That didn't deter us though, because we knew that Hye's beauty had all the potential in the world, we just had to get other people to see it too.  It took us awhile (years) to get some momentum going with Hye, but once we did, her career took off and she has booked jobs that most models only dream of (Vogue Covers, MAC Campaign, etc).

It has been a while since we launched Hye's career, and now there are so many successful Asian models we can't even keep track of them all.  It is a testament to Hye that she is still working, and booking jobs like this Grazia editorial.  This editorial is in the current (June 2015) issue of Grazia Korea, and Hye looks just as amazing as the day we signed her.

Mario Testino on My Mind

Were you all swooning over last nights Met Gala pics?  If not check out some amazing red carpet coverage here.  While I was looking through Vogue's instagram coverage of the event, I loved that they had famed fashion photographer Mario Testino take over their insta for the night.  It was so interesting getting an insider's point of view into one of fashion's biggest nights of the year.

After I poured over Met Gala photos for longer than I'd like to admit, I started wondering what models of ours have been captured by Testino's expert eye.  I came across these pictures of Hye Rim Park from an editorial in Vogue Paris.  It amazes me that Hye, who we discovered in Utah, is in this editorial for Vogue Paris, with major models like Jessica Stam, Liya Kebede, Hilary Rhoda, and Behati Prinsloo. The fact that Hye was in this Vogue editorial, alongside these major models, and photographed by Mario Testino, is proof that it doesn't matter where you are discovered, if you are developed and managed properly, the sky is the limit.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Hye Rim Park for Kerastase

Today's Major Moment Monday is a current one, and we love it when that happens.  If you go to the Kerastase website now, you will see Hye Rim Park looking amazing in the hair tutorials.  Kerastase is a major brand in the beauty/hair world, and we love seeing Hye on their site.  We scouted Hye in Utah, and it took a few years to develop her and get her career going, but now here we are 8 years later and she is still booking jobs like this Kerastase campaign.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Hye Park for H&M

For today's Major Moment Monday, we are throwing it back all the way to 2007!  When Hye Rim Park landed this H&M advertising campaign, it was a huge accomplishment.  Sharing the campaign with supermodel Erin Wasson made this an even bigger coup, it was monumental for Hye who's career was just starting to take off.  We discovered Hye when she was a college student in Utah, and then she went on to become one of the most successful models we have ever discovered, developed and managed.

Happy Birthday to Marc Jacobs!

As I hopped online to day it came to my attention that it is the birthday of the one and only, Marc Jacobs.  As a fashion lover, it is my duty to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Not only is Marc Jacobs one of the most talented fashion designers in the game right now, he is a fellow former Parsons student, so I feel like I have an extra kinship with him.

Marc Jacobs has helped bring legitimacy back to American fashion design, and his time at the helm of Louis Vuitton proved to even the most discerning fashionista that an American viewpoint and designer was just as good as his french counterpoints.

A few of our models have worked for Marc Jacobs throughout the years and each time, it has been a privilege to see our models working with the best of the best.  Hannah Holman was even cast solo in the first Daisy fragrance ads, which was huge for her career.

We wouldn't be surprised if few models from our latest crop of standouts are cast for work with Marc Jacobs soon, because right now we have the most promising group we have had in a long time.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Hye Park's Incredible Fashion Week

Rodarte

Today's Major Moment Monday is from the Spring 2007 Fashion Shows.  Pulse Management discovery Hye Rim Park, put some major mileage on her stilettos walking down the runways.  She dominated the tents in New York and then went on to walk in the major shows in London, Milan, and Paris.  As you scroll through these photos you will see that she made an appearance in almost all of the top designers shows, and proved that your show wasn't a major one if you didn't have Hye walking down your runway.  Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Karl Lagerfeld, Rodarte, Louis Vuitton, and Oscar De La Renta are just a few of the runways she walked down.  If you consider the fact that these shows are within an hour of each other sometimes, you can start to imagine exactly how busy Hye was during these fashion weeks.  It's no wonder Andre Leon Talley said that Hye was his favorite model, he had plenty of times to see her working to solidify that opinion.

Throwback Thursday: Then and Now

Above you see a picture from Hye Rim Park's first test shoot she did with us.  This shoot took place soon after we discovered her in Utah, and then started to build her career.  It took a while for the industry to embrace Hye, there were not a lot of Asian top models at the time.  In fact after she started booking jobs she told Teen Vogue, There aren‘t many Asian models, so I felt really proud to walk for such a high-profile designer like Miuccia Prada.

We weren't dissuaded by the fact that there were not a lot of Asian model success stories before Hye, because we knew she had potential and we worked and worked until other people started realizing that as well. Hye has booked some incredible campaigns, walked the highest level of high fashion runways, and she has appeared on multiple covers of Vogue.  She also ushered in a movement of top models who are Asian, and we are proud so proud that we had a part of that.  So reflecting on her career and how far she has come since her first test shoot is especially poignant to us. For more details on Hye's career check out her models.com profile here, and her profile for New York Magazine here.
