Test Results are in for Armon

In the modeling industry a phrase you will often hear is "test shoot".  Test shoots are exactly what they sound like, either agencies, potential clients, photographers, etc. want to test out a model to see how they shoot.  Sometimes someone is amazing looking in person, but when you see their film it is underwhelming.  Other times you can be on the fence about a model, and then when you get their test images back, they can be amazing.  That is why we test shoot, because you never know until you see a model's film.

Armon Eastman, had a number of test shoots in NYC recently for clients interested in him for the upcoming men's runway and print seasons.  These pictures speak for themselves. Needless to say these pictures are making Armon quite the sought after prospect for the upcoming season.  I can't name specific clients that are interested at the moment, but I will as soon as I'm at liberty to do so.  Basically think about some of the biggest menswear designers in fashion, and Armon is on their shortlist.

Don't you worry, dear blog readers, as Armon books the jobs we will keep you posted.  He is going big, and it is all happening very fast.  We love it.

Sara Grace Kelley's Behind the Scenes in Hong Kong

Sara Grace Kelley is keeping up our streak of models conquering the Asian fashion scene.  These pictures are a sneak peek for a photo shoot she did for one of the largest hair salons in China.  We are definitely picking up a Marie Antoinette (Sofia Coppola version, of course!) from the wardrobe styling and makeup.  We can't wait to see the final product!  

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on TV Tonight!

Tonight the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is airing on CBS.  This is arguably the biggest fashion show of the year, especially if you are considering viewership numbers.  Working for Victoria's Secret is one of the biggest jobs a model can get.  If you think about it, you probably know a lot of the VS Angels by their first names (Karlie, Lily, Doutzen, Behati, Candice, Adriana, Alessandra, etc).  The VS Angels are our generations answer to the supermodels of the 90s.  

We do not have any of our models in the show airing tonight, but at Pulse Management, we have been lucky enough to have two of our models work for VS Hannah Holman and Tori Praver.  We think we have a couple of girls that are ready to walk to VS catwalk next year, lets see if we can make it happen!  Any of our models reading this, are you going to be our next girl to work with VS? Let's make this happen.

We had a busy weekend, which we will share all of the details with you soon!  All the stars aligned on Friday night and we were able to have some of our favorite people at one table.  Liz and her mom escaped the cold in Minnesota and were in LA for some photo shoots.  Stacey, Shayna and Lisa were in LA for the Dolls Model Mgmt test shoots.  We all met up at an Eastman family favorite restaurant, The Stinking Rose in Beverly Hills.  

We had a great dinner, and had a chance to chat with Liz about her whirlwind month.  While at dinner we were reminded of what is going to make Liz so successful.  Her look is immaculate, her go-with-the-flow attitude, willingness to make modeling her top priority, and her awesome family support are all combining to make Liz a force to be reckoned with. We hope Liz and Jen have a rest of their trip out in LA, and enjoy being home for the holidays.  Next stop for Liz is Tokyo, and then who knows?! (We personally think she is going to be our next girl to be on the cover of Vogue, we have done it 19 times before so we are speaking from experience)

We are currently in the Hollywood Hills at the Dolls Model Development house.  This weekend we are doing some test shoots for our newest discoveries.  Our team of scouts found them in their hometowns, and now they have joined us for their first photo shoots.  We will have a full post next week with video and more photos of these amazing girls, but we just wanted to give you a little teaser of what is going down with us this weekend.

Rachel Cook for Lorac Cosmetics

Pulse Mgmt model Rachel Cook is looking amazing in this huge promotional display for LORAC Cosmetics.  LORAC posted the above photo on their Instagram, to show the set up for an event they did in NYC to promote their Spring 2014 line.  We think they picked a perfect model for their line, and we love seeing Rachel's beautiful face printed up on such a huge display!  The picture has almost 700 likes on LORAC's post, and we can see why.  Congrats Rachel!

Carson for Chinti and Parker

Carson is taking over the London fashion scene.  She is the only model featured in the look book for Chinti and Parker's S/S 2014 line, and she is on the front page of their website.  If you haven't heard of Chinti and Parker yet, don't worry you will be familiar with them soon enough.  The brand has been featured in every major fashion magazine including: Vogue, Elle, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, InStyle, Nylon, Interview (one of my personal favorites), and many more.  Check out this link if you still need more proof. Another amazing job for Carson, this girl is on a roll!

Rachel Cook is Heating Up LA

Rachel Cook sure has been busy since she arrived in LA.  She shot with Kyle Goldie, the famed swimwear photographer.  He does photography for Sports Illustrated, which is as big as it gets when it comes to swimwear.  When he wanted to photograph Rachel, we were thrilled (and that's putting it mildly).

She also shot these images with Christopher Shintani, another Los Angeles based photographer.  When looking at his profile we think all of his work is amazing, but these images of Rachel are clear stand outs.  And not just because we are biased.  The simplicity of these images are stunning, and any model or photographer knows that the simple pictures are sometimes the hardest to perfect because there are no distractions to hide behind.  We love these images of Rachel, and are so impressed with the work she has been producing in LA.

Olivia Hamilton on the Runway in Japan

Olivia Hamilton is continuing her streak of great bookings while in Japan.  These pictures are from her walking the runway for the Hiromichi Takano show.  Takano is one of the biggest names in Japanese fashion, as detailed in this article.  Olivia is definitely making her mark while modeling in Japan, and she and her mom Leslie are having the adventure of a lifetime together over there.  We can't wait to see what this beauty from Colorado has up next.  Don't worry, we will keep you posted.

Charlee Pilon Shoots with Darren Tieste

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your nearest and dearest.  In continuing with our week of gratitude, we have to say we are thankful for our model, Charlee Pilon, for consistently having such impressive photo shoots! I don't know if she can take a bad picture.  These images are for a shoot she did in LA with Darren Tieste.  If you click on the link now, she is the cover image for his website. So clearly he is just as smitten with Charlee as we are.  He has photographed for Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Cosmopolitan, so having Charlee up on his site is a major coup!  Way to go Charlee, keep up the good work.

Pulse Mgmt Salute's One of Our Model's Dad!

Have you guys heard about the Dad in Short Shorts?  The self-proclaimed "Best Dad Ever" (at least according to his t-shirt), is the father of one of our models, Sara Cooper.  Sara's dad, Scott Mackintosh, wore the short-shorts to prove a point to Sara's sister Myley, and the story went viral.  Check out the video below:



When we talked to Sara about her dad she told us:

"I was shocked my dad would go around town dressed like that.  But to cut his pants into shorts and wear them for a few seconds at the house wouldn't have surprised me.  My dad is hilarious and is always trying to be a friend to his kids while being a parent too.  He wanted to have a fun family evening.  If he had just asked Myley to change the night would have turned out differently so instead he cut his pants to match hers and humiliated himself to show her that he loves her.  He really cares about us and I don't think this will be the last time he goes out of his way to show us.  I am proud of him :)!"

We love our girl Sara, and its easy to see why she is so awesome.  Scott is our new favorite person!  This week please remember to be thankful for what you have, and we are thankful for all of our models and all of their amazing families.

Forever A Surfer - feat. Aaron Jessee

Check out this video of Aaron Jessee, who is part of the Pulse Mgmt Action Sports Division.  Nothing like a good surf video to heat up your chilly Monday!  To say we are excited to have Aaron as part of our Pulse Mgmt family is an understatement.  Wishing we were in Hawaii surfing with Aaron right about now.  But then again, who wouldn't be wishing for that?!

Bon Voyage Karsyn!

We have models heading out all over the place these days!  Our girl Karsyn Bartruff  (on the right) is headed to NYC, and we can't wait to see everything she accomplishes on her trip.  Don't worry we will keep you posted.  Karsyn is pictured with her friend Allie Evans, a model she knows from LA.  Allie is also a popular fashion vlogger, and she said the following about the above photo, "Mark this tweet people! Next to me is the next big supermodel & I know a lot of models."  We aren't going to argue with you there!  We love our Karsyn, and wish her the best of luck in NYC.

Sneak Peak!

Carson Named Ford Model of the Moment

Check out our girl Carson Bruner, on Ford Models Blog as the Model of the Moment!  When she is in NYC we have Carson placed with Ford Models, and so far the partnership is working out splendidly.  Ford wrote a wonderful blog post to go along with the announcement.  The blog says:

"Carson has made a lasting impression with designers and editors alike. Perhaps it’s her doll like porcelain skin and mile long legs that make her so irresistible. Whatever it is, the California native has it in spades. Off camera, this elfin eared beauty likes to explore New York and spend time with fellow Ford Fresh Faces Noel and Miriam. Although she adores the city – she misses spending time at home in sunny California, and counts her mom as her biggest supporter.

Carson recently celebrated a birthday, and continues her celebration as this week’s “Model of the Moment.”

On A Serious Note

This post is written specifically for potential models, and their parents.  As a Management Company we find the well being and safety of our models of the utmost importance.  Yes, we would love for each of our models to be on the covers of huge magazines and become fashion royalty, but we realize that SOMETIMES that comes at a cost.

Recently there was an article published about Terry Richardson, one of the most controversial and popular fashion photographers right now.  Richardson has a reputation for using his status to take advantage of models, and some of them are now speaking out about him.  We did not include the article because it is very graphic and we do not want that information on our blog.

We are not out to defend the bad parts of our industry, and we certainly are not going to pretend that there are not people that have nefarious motives.  We are here to tell you that we will never push our models to do something that they (or if they are younger than 18, their parents) are not comfortable with.  You may feel pressure from photographers or other agencies, but you will not get that from your management if you are signed with us.  We want you to know that you can call Stacey at anytime and he can help you navigate through these situations.  That is why you have a manager.

We have had a model shoot with Terry Richardson.  We will refrain from using her name, because we love this girl and don't want to cast her in a negative light. We advised her not to work with him, based on his reputation, but she found the allure of the success shooting with him provided and decided to model for him anyway.  She did become very successful, but not without sacrificing a little bit of herself.  A short while after she had her photo shoot she called Stacey in tears, regretting what she had done and lamenting that she never should have posed for Richardson.  Stacey was there to comfort her and make a new game plan about how she should continue her career.  (This model was older than 18, which is why she didn't have a parent or guardian accompany her on set)

It is very important for you models to understand that while we want you to be as successful as possible, we do not want you to feel like you have to sacrifice your personal set of moral standards or personal code of conduct to do so.  At the end of the day, we want you to be comfortable with the person you are, and the decisions that you make.  That is not the norm in this industry, but we want to help to change that. We want you to be successful, and we want to help you do that, but more importantly we want to make sure you feel good about how you obtain your success.

UNREAL

You guys... I don't even know where to start on this one.  This images are from Liz's test shoot with Timothy Rosado in New York City.  Keep in mind that she is 15, and she had her very first photo shoot last month.  She is blowing everyone's minds, especially ours.  Those expressions, and her body movement looks like a seasoned pro! We knew she had incredible potential, but she is exceeding even our high expectations.  Mark my words, this girl from Minnesota is going to be a superstar.

Happy Birthday Sara Grace Kelley!

We want to wish a very happy 18th birthday to Sara Grace Kelley! We started to feel bad that she is celebrating her birthday away from her family in friends, and then we saw this picture posted on her instagram.  She is celebrating her bday, in Hong Kong living out her dream of being a model, and when we put it that way we think she is one lucky lady!  This picture is on set with a hair and make up team on a shoot in Hong Kong.  We are proud of you girl, and we know this year will have big things in store for you! 

Even Supermodels Start Out Somewhere

This photo, from Karlie Kloss' instagram, was taken in 2007.  This was backstage at Calvin Klein, at the beginning of these models' careers.  Karlie Kloss (far left) is standing next to Pulse Management discovery Ali Stephens, Toni Garrn and Taryn Davidson.  We scouted Ali at a mall in her hometown of Salt Lake City and launched her to be one of the most successful models we have ever worked with.  Ali has been on multiple Vogue covers, the cover of W Magazine, walked the biggest runways, been on billboards, been in ads for too many clients to name, and the list goes on and on.  Back in 2007 these models were all new to the fashion scene, and now years later is it amazing to see what they have each accomplished!

Pulse Mgmt's Action Sports Signs Aaron Jessee

Our Action Sports Division, Pulse Mgmt Action Sports, recently signed Aaron Jessee.  The video above speaks for itself.  Every single time we watch it we are in awe of the talent this guy possesses. We don't know what we love the most about Aaron, his surfing skills or his awesome hair.  Ok, it's the surfing, but the hair is a close second.  We are stoked to have you on our team Aaron, and we think this is the beginning of a beautiful partnership!

Big Things Ahead for Armon

Pulse Management's Armon Eastman, son of Owner Stacey Eastman, continues to exceed even his dad's expectations.  He leaves for Europe in a little more than a week to meet with Burberry in London, and then Prada in Milan. Those are huge companies to meet with for any model, but for a male model just starting his career, this is quite a feat! Wishing you lots of luck Armon, and we can't wait to see how your trip goes.

Happy Happy Birthday to our dear Carson Bruner! How did she spend her last day as a 16 year old? At a photo shoot for the incomparable Marc Jacobs in New York City! We are so proud of Carson and everything she has accomplished since we scouted her and launched her modeling career.  This girl has been all over the world in the past year, and her travels are just starting.  We hope you have a wonderful birthday, Carson.  We sure love you!

This picture is of Sara Grace Kelley, one of the best people we have scouted out of Idaho.  It was featured in Coco Magazine.  When we first met her, we knew with a name like hers and more importantly looks and a personality like hers, she was destined for big things.  We signed her in 2008 as a 7th grader and she is still with us today.  In fact she just headed out to Hong Kong for some modeling work.  We will keep you posted on the big things this girl accomplishes!

Carolyn Roberts and John Travolta

A few of our Pulse Management models have made the transition into acting, and Carolyn Roberts is one of them.  Here is Carolyn on set with, Hollywood legend, John Travolta! When it comes to co-stars and leading men in film, you can't do much better than Travolta. We can't divulge details about the film yet, but you better believe we will keep you posted when the move is out so you can all go see it and support our Carolyn!

Welcome Home Jessie!

Jessie S., just got back home from her first modeling trip to Paris.  She shot these beautiful images while in France, and we are awestruck.  These are stunning Jessie. These look like images of a seasoned pro, not of a model on her first trip! We love the minimal hair and makeup, and that they let you be the star that you are.  Don't get too comfortable at home in Colorado, you are going to be headed to New York soon!

Carson Bruner & Victoria Beckham

We love this picture of our girl Carson and the one and only Victoria Beckham.  Carson was in the VIP showcase of VB's clothing line, during NYFW.  Unlike many celebrity fashion designers, Victoria is known for being very involved in her clothing line, and this event was no different.  Although she has a reputation for being a little bit on the icy side, Beckham was completely the opposite according to Carson.  "She is super sweet and she is so nice," Carson told us.  "She does smile a lot actually, but when it's time to take a picture she forces it to go down."
