Liz is Back in NYC

This post was supposed to go up yesterday, but I'm not sure what happened to it! We don't want to miss out on posting about our model Liz Kennedy and how much we appreciate her. She is back in New York City after some much deserved time off, including her trip to Disney with Olivia Hamilton

We are so grateful that our scout found Liz, and that she signed with us and trusted us with her career. What makes Liz such an amazing model is not only her incomparable beauty, but her willingness to work hard, and her ambition to continually better herself. We know that these attributes will take her far in her modeling career and in her life. We love you Liz, and we are excited to see what this trip to New York has in store for you.

Interview with Lilli Junge

We know that a lot of you who read this blog are either potential models, or their parents who are trying to learn a little bit more about us. We are posting these videos for you to see a little bit more about who some of our models are and how they have felt on their journeys so far. We also want you all to get to know our models a little bit better, because we think they have such fun personalities to go along with their beautiful exteriors.

We are so glad that Lilli and her mom came out to New York city for their test shoot, and we loved seeing the bonding experience that happens between these mothers and daughters. Not only did Lilli have her first test shoot, she and her mom explored the city, and caught a broadway show. We're glad you enjoyed New York Lilli, because we see potential in you that could have you spending a lot of time there in the future.

Brook Swanson Video Interview

You may remember when we introduced you to Brook Swanson here. Brook is one of our newest models, and we are so happy that our scout found her, and then she decided to sign with us. Brook and her mom came out to New York City for their her test shoot with Timothy Rosado. The images turned out even better than we had hoped, and we loved having a little bit of time to get to know Brook and her mom better. As you can see in the above video they are both amazing people, and we are looking forward to a long working relationship with them both.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Georgia Weeks for Bisous Magazine

Georgia Weeks' most recent work is curing our Monday blues! This editorial from Bisous Magazine and it is some of Georgia's best work yet. Georgia's eyebrows have always been amazing, but in this shoot her cheekbones may be stealing the show, and that's saying a lot because the wardrobe in this editorial is incredible. Congrats Georgia, these photos are absolutely beautiful.

Rachel Cook is as Gorgeous as Ever!

Rachel Cook is a model we discovered in her hometown of Seattle more than five years ago. Since we launched her career she has worked in Asia, Italy, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco, and that's just scratching the surface. Rachel has booked major editorials, cosmetics campaigns, and it is very impressive (but not surprising) that she is still working now. She recently posted some behind the scenes photos from a shoot she did for PacSun and she looks as amazing as ever. With behind the scenes photos like these, I can wait to see the final images!

Olivia and Liz Take Over Disney World!

Soon our models Olivia Hamilton and Liz Kennedy are going to be in New York getting ready for fashion week, but right now they are living it up at Disney World! These two hit it off when they both were first starting their careers, and we sent them to Tokyo together. They became fast friends, and have since modeled all over the world together. They spent a summer in London, an autumn in Asia, and have been roommates in NYC. We love seeing them spending time together even when they aren't working. These two work hard, and they deserve a little downtime, and what better place that Disney World?!

Model Life: Advice from A Major Casting Director

Models.com recently ran an enlightening interview with casting director, John Pfeiffer. In the article Pfeiffer details how his career began, and what it is like casting models for some of the biggest clients in the fashion industry (Victoria's Secret and Michael Kors are two of his many clients). We like to use our blog as a way to educate our current and potential models about the modeling industry, and we think that this article will be very helpful for anyone who is wanting to be a model. A casting director can make or break a model's career, because in Pfeiffer's words:

"My job and I think the job of a casting director is that of a first set of eyes, and of an editor, because the client can’t see all those girls."

A good casting director knows what his/her clients are looking for, and they see sometimes hundreds of models to bring their clients the right model for the job. If you have time to read the entire article, I highly recommend it because it helps you realize what is going on in the head of the people on the other side of the casting tables. I especially liked the part when Pfeiffer gave the following advice to models:

"Do your research and be educated and know as much as you can about where you’re going and who you are seeing and what you’re doing."

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Hannah Holman for Sonia Rykiel

Happy Major Moment Monday everyone! Today we are looking back to the Sonia by Sonia Rykiel S/S 2014 lookbook featuring Hannah Holman. Sonia Rykiel is a very respected and talented French designer, and we think that Hannah is a perfect model for these cheerful frocks. We discovered Hannah at the mall in Utah, and then launched her modeling career. Hannah has been working as a model for many years now, and hers is one of the most successful careers of any model we have discovered. We love these photos of Hannah and we are proud of everything she has accomplished, and are grateful that we were able to be the ones that started her on this life changing path.

Hazel's Living Her Dream

Behind the scenes video from one of Hazel's recent shoots

Yesterday our model Hazel Eakman, posted something on her instagram that made us all kinds of happy. She wrote:

  • hazelgrayeSometimes I have to blink a few extra times to make sure this dream of a life I'm living is real. So thankful for every opportunity I was given in 2015 and so excited for all the opportunities to come in 2016 🤘🏻😄
    @fusionmodelsnyc @pulsemgmt

We know when we scout our models, we have the ability and potential to really change the course of their lives. Some of our models end up traveling the world, seeing places and meeting people that they never would have if we never scouted them. We have had a few of our models meet their spouses through their modeling careers, and some of them now have families of their own. It is incredibly rewarding to help people live their dreams, and we absolutely love doing it.

Hazel, when we scouted you in Minnesota, we knew you had so much potential. We have loved seeing you develop as a model and a person during your time in New York City, and we know that you still have many great things ahead both in your modeling career and in your life.

CHANEL N°5: The One That I Want - The Film

If you follow our instagram, you saw the above picture posted the other day, and we can't help sharing a little bit more of the story behind the photo. Stacey Eastman, Pulse Management President, loves surfing so much he moved his family to Hawaii so it could be a part of their daily lifestyle. So when we see anything involving surfing and the world of high fashion together? It is like someone else is speaking our language, that we didn't even think other people knew existed. When Gisele Bundchen starred in the campaign for Chanel No. 5 and there was a surfing element to the campaign, we were in fashion heaven, and in case you missed it the video is below.

The only problem with this video is that the surfboards are custom made for the campaign. So we need one of our models to book the next Chanel campaign, and ask Karl to make us one. (Our models have worked for Chanel before so its not too much of a stretch.)

NYFW is Coming Up!

Alisha Judge in Jenny Packham

Now that January is here it means that New York Fashion Week is just around the corner. (Official dates are February 11-18) A new year, a new fashion season, and we will have some new models in New York this year. We are also looking forward to seeing which shows our more experienced models book now that they have had a few seasons to develop their skills.

The above photo is from last February when our model Alisha Judge OPENED the Jenny Packham show. Jenny Packham is one of the best designers out of the UK in a while, and her popularity skyrocketed when the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton herself, started to wear Packham's designs regularly. Having Alisha open such a big show was one of our fashion week highlights last year, and we can't wait to see what this February has in store for us. Stay tuned everyone, we'll keep you all updated here!

Models.com Model of the Year Awards

Modeling Industry website, models.com, recently announced its Model of the Year Awards for 2015. I look forward to this list every year, and I love to see who comes out on top. In my humble opinion, some of the winners are spot on, some of them are intentionally humorous (Derek Zoolander for comeback of the year!), and some of them just go to show what we already know about the changing industry. While we can't argue that certain top models these days have gained a degree of their success due to their involvement in reality television shows, we also can't argue that this new generation of celebrity models are booking some of the biggest jobs in the industry.

We personally think that some of our models are every bit (or more) talented than some of the winners, and we think that it's only a matter of time until you see a couple of our girls on this list. Our models work hard for every job they book, and we know that determination only makes you a stronger person and model.

While none of our models are listed, we had a few models gain profiles on models.com, and our models walked the world's biggest runways (Dior, Delpozo, Burberry, Dolce and Gabbana, etc.), and were featured in the most notable fashion magazines (Vogue, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, French Revue De Modes, etc.). We are proud of the body of work and of each of our models. So here's to 2016, and we know that our models have great things in store for us this year.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Ali Stephens for Italian Vogue

It is a new year, and we have high hopes for 2016! To kick off this year's Major Moment Monday posts, we have this behind the scenes picture from Ali Stephens' shoot for Italian Vogue. Nothing makes us more excited than seeing one of our models having continued success, and Ali booking an editorial in Italian Vogue is major. We discovered Ali years ago, launched her career, and seeing her career longevity just proves the potential that we saw in her when we scouted her. Congrats Ali, we can't wait to see the editorial when it comes out.

Happy Birthday Holly!

Happy New Year everyone! I have been wanting to share with you some of our model Holly Sherman's latest photos, and since her birthday was yesterday we think the timing is perfect. In case you missed it, we introduced you all to Holly in this post, and explained why we love and admire her so much. She has been working in New York for the past little while, and we couldn't be happier with the photos of her that we are seeing. Happy Birthday Holly, we are looking forward to working with you in 2016!

Olivia Hamilton on Health

Well apparently this week is Liz and Olivia week, but these two beautiful best friends keep providing us with material that is too good not to share with all of you. Yesterday morning Olivia Hamilton posted a Facebook status about health that really verbalized exactly what we try to tell our models all the time. In order to model you have to have a certain figure, and really it is more about keeping up your overall health, than just losing weight. In order to be able to model you have to have the stamina to be in front of the camera (which sometimes entails running, jumping, dancing, etc.), not to mention be able to run from casting to casting, and be able to do a lot of it in stilettos. Having models who will be able to keep themselves healthy is key, because if a model is starving herself to just be thin there is no way she will be able to keep up with her career (not to mention how unhealthy that is!).

Olivia said, "I think a lot of people struggle with the concept of health. Just because someone's skinny doesn't mean they are healthy and just because someone is healthy doesn't mean they are skinny. Any size person can be malnourished and any size person can be healthy to a degree. The difference is a diet of veggies, fruit, lean proteins, and whole grains versus a diet of skipping meals, restricting calories, etc. With the right amount of healthy portion control, healthy foods, and exercising, your results will be far better than the other route. I don't understand why people choose to do it the unhealthy way instead of increase their life span and live a happy, healthy life. In the long run that's what matters."

So the moral of the story is, we want you all to be healthy, especially as the New Year approaches and everyone is making their resolutions. Don't look for short cuts to a perfect body, instead focus on your overall health and choose a way to get healthy that you can sustain for the long run.

Liz Kennedy for L'Officiel Japan

You are getting a double dose of Liz Kennedy this week, but when we I see photos like these I can't help but post them right away! These pages are from an editorial in L'official Japan, and I have to say that this edgier look on Liz looks pretty cool. It's funny to think of sweet Liz, our midwestern highschooler, looking grungy in this Japanese fashion magazine. That's one of the things we love about modeling though, where you are from doesn't matter it is how your photos turn out that make or break your career. We can't wait to see the rest of the photos from this editorial Liz, because we are loving what we have seen so far!

Olivia the Graduate!

We have to give a major shout out to our model Olivia Hamilton. She has been working with us for a few years now, traveling all over the world, and staying on the Honor Roll while doing it. Olivia just finished high school, a semester early, and kept up her impressive grades while doing it. This girl is not only beautiful, but she is smart, and she is a hard worker, which is an incredible combination. We are proud of you Olivia, and we know that you will be able to accomplish anything you put your mind to.

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Liz Kennedy for Telegraph Magazine

The Monday after a holiday weekend is always a little bit rough, but hopefully this editorial of Liz Kennedy will help brighten your day. These photos ran in the Telegraph Magazine in the UK, and we can't get over the lush scenery paired with the cozy wool pieces in the wardrobe. Liz shot this when she was in London, and it turned out incredibly. Great work Liz, another killer editorial to add to your book.

Sophie Skloss on the Cover of Red Thread Magazine

We have a feeling that being on the cover of the inaugural issue of Red Thread Journal is going to be one the highlights of Sophia Skloss' holiday season! Red Thread Journal is a bi-annual British fashion magazine, so it is definitely notable that out of their two covers they will have in a year they selected Sophia to be on the cover of one.

Sophia's birthday was on Sunday, and we are always impressed by her maturity and composure that is well-beyond her years. In the past year she worked with designers and labels like Burberry, Delpozo, Phillip Lim, Zac Posen, Rodarte, and the list goes on and on! We are looking forward to seeing what the new year brings for this beauty.

Pulse Management Introduces Brook Swanson

Before all of the Star Wars madness we were introducing you to some of our new faces, and we can't let another day pass without introducing you to Brook Swanson. Brook and her mom Melissa flew to New York from North Dakota for her Dolls Model Management photo shoot. Timothy Rosado worked his magic with Brook, and her photos are beautiful. Brook we are so excited to manage you (that gorgeous complexion of yours is just begging to be in a beauty campaign), and are looking forward to an exciting career ahead.

Hazel Eakman's Star Wars Inspired Makeup for Refinery 29

Refinery 29 teamed up with CoverGirl to share some makeup looks inspired by Star Wars, and our model Hazel Eakman was one of the models for the feature. Last week we posted about Hazel modeling a Star Wars shirt for Macy's, so we weren't exaggerating when we said the force is strong with Hazel. Apparently she is our go-to model for all things Star Wars, and judging by the movie's box office records, being linked to Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn't a bad thing! Once again Hazel looks incredible, and this makeup has us embracing our inner fangirl!
