Why We Love Holly Sherman

Everyone, this is Holly Sherman, one of favorite models. We may say that a lot about our models, but with Holly we are going to tell you why we love her so much. She signed with us a little while ago after being scouted in Illinois. She did her test shoot with Dolls Model Management, and we saw that she had a lot of potential. Like many of the models we work with, Holly had a couple of things to work on before we launched her career. I won't specifically say what Holly needed to work on, but generally models need to either work on their grades (if they are still in high school they can't travel if they don't have good grades), sometimes they need to clear up their skin, or start exercising/eating better to have a healthier figure (it may seem superficial, but it is the industry we work in).

Part of our model management is the development of a model. We could have tried to launch Holly's career after her first shoot, and she might have been successful, we wouldn't have signed her if we didn't think she was someone special. We just knew that if we developed her a little bit and gave her the opportunity to work on what she needed to, she would have a much better chance in this fickle industry. Instead of being a good model right away, we wanted to have her be an incredible one after a little time preparing for her career.

So after Holly's shoot in New York, she took our advice seriously and spent months working on getting herself ready to really dive into her modeling career. We kept in contact and were impressed by Holly's dedication to her goals. Soon she was ready to travel back to New York and work with our partner Fusion Model Management.

"I'm signed with Fusion and currently building my book," said Holly. "It has been an extraordinary journey so far and I can't wait to see what the future holds."

Neither can we! Seeing Holly starting to live her dream of being a model is so rewarding because we know she worked hard to get there. That will serve her well because she will appreciate her successes more. We hope that our current and future models will see this story about Holly and realize that if/when they receive criticism they can either ignore it, or use it to make themselves better. Below one of our favorite pictures on Holly's instagram it says, "Decide. Commit. Succeed." We can't think of a better motto for our models, and we hope they can all have Holly's maturity and drive in their careers as well.

Polaroid Round Up

A model's polaroids are every bit as important as her book. The book shows potential clients what you can look like (with wardrobe/hair/makeup) but the polaroids show what you actually do look like. With digital polaroids a model wears minimal makeup, hair is simple, and the wardrobe is basic. We ask models for polaroids for pictures all the time, so we thought it would be helpful to see some of our models' more recent polaroids. Also, looking through these pictures we are in awe of how stunning our models are. We really do have some of the best models in the industry in our Pulse family, and we are so proud!

New Photos of Alex Romney

These photos of our model Alex Romney show just how beautiful she is! The photos were taken in LA by Miguel Mor, and Aaron Paul did her classic hair and makeup looks. Alex is reminiscent of Grace Kelly to me in these images, and you can't go wrong resembling her. On our instagram we have a fun behind the scenes video from the shoot, check it out here. Keep up the good work Alex, we can't wait to see what you do next!

Madison Moehling and Hazel Eakman COVER Haunted Mag

Well we have to say that December is off to an incredible start! This photo from the COVER of Haunted Mag's Fall 2015 issue is doubly amazing because it features two of our models. Madison Moehling and Hazel Eakman are smoldering in this photo, and it is so exciting that they get to share this cover together. The photo was shot by Ali Daniel Flores, styled by Eduardo Romo, hair by Sheri Pinto, and the makeup was done by Christyna Kay

A model's first magazine cover is a major feat, and we are so proud of both of our girls for their big moment.

Natalie Keyser for Amazing Magazine

While searching for pictures of another model (I'll share those with you later), I found this editorial of our model Natalie Keyser, and it was the best surprise! This editorial called "Traffic Control" is from Amazing Magazine, and it lives up to the magazine title. Natalie is no longer modeling, but we are thrilled that she has decided to stay in the Pulse Management family as a scout. So future models, consider yourself warned, Natalie is on the lookout for you. If she is as good of a scout as she is as a model, we are going to have some new supermodels on our hands in no time!

Thanksgiving Hawaiian Style

Stacey Eastman and Jodie Gordon

Not only was this the Eastman family's first Thanksgiving since their move to Hawaii, they were lucky to have some amazing visitors join them. Jodie Gordon and Travis Kipp from Fusion Model Management. Having business partners that feel like family is definitely something to be thankful for, and this trip is going to have to be a Thanksgiving tradition!

Hannah and Liz in London

When this photo popped up on our instagram feed earlier this week, it was like Christmas came early. To see two beautiful models, both discovered and launched by us, together at a shoot and looking so happy, is beyond rewarding. Liz Kennedy and Hannah Holman, both booked a shoot for Warehouse while they have been working in London with The Hive Model Management. Hannah has experienced major success within the industry, and Liz is one of our newer models who already has some major editorials and a French Magazine cover under her belt. Its pretty amazing to see two girls we scouted, one in Minnesota and one in Utah, working together in London. We love it!

Sophia Skloss for Marie Claire Italia

In our opinion a good model doesn't need a lot of hair/makeup tricks to look amazing. Case in point is our model, Sophia Skloss, in this photo from the December 2015 Marie Claire Italia. She looks fresh faced and beautiful. Max Cardelli photographed the editorial and it was styled by Laura Segaunti. The combination of the subtle hair and makeup, along with the beautiful Cèline frock, makes for a stunning photo of Sophia. Not to mention the fact that it is running in one of the most recognized names in the fashion magazine arena, Marie Claire. Keep up the good work Sophia, we are so proud of you!

MAJOR MOMENT MONDAY: Liz Kennedy for Vogue Japan

Happy Monday everyone! We have already posted the photos of Liz Kennedy's editorial in Vogue Japan, but now we have the entire magazine page layout to share with you. Anytime one of our models is in Vogue it is cause to celebrate, and seeing the magazine pages makes this editorial for Liz seem even more exciting.

Olivia Hamilton for 1 Granary

During her time in London, our model Olivia Hamilton, was photographed for 1 Granary Magazine's October Issue. 1 Granary is the magazine made by students of Central Saint Martins, which is one of the most esteemed design universities in the world, whose fashion program alumni are some of the top designers in the fashion industry. The photos accompanied this article about Charlotte Hockin, and her philosophies behind her designs. These photos are different than any others that I have seen of Olivia, and I always like seeing a little diversity.

More Pics from Georgia Weeks in Nylon

You all may remember this post we did about Georgia Weeks picking up the issue of Nylon Magazine that this editorial ran in. Now we have all of the photos of Georgia from the magazine to share with you, and we have a feeling you will like them as much as we do! Georgia, this editorial turned out even better than our expectations, and they were pretty high. We are looking forward to seeing what you do next.

Why Finding the Right Photographer Matters

The above video is an experiment done by Canon, to see how differently one subject can be photographed by six different photographers. Each photographer was given a unique backstory about the subject, and its amazing how much each photograph turned out.

We are always amazed how each model of ours can look so differently, depending on the shoot she's in and the photographer. We also stress to our new potential models the importance of testing with currently published and proven photographers. A model's portfolio can make or break her, and sometimes no matter how incredible the model, if her book is subpar it can make it nearly impossible to find her work.

At Pulse Management we take pride in the development of the models we represent. Through our Dolls Model Management shoots, we only use photographers that we know will deliver us the kinds of photographs needed to launch a model's career. We are lucky to know and work with some of the most talented photographers in the business.

Liz Kennedy for Sunday Times Style

We are loving the pictures from Liz Kennedy's editorial in Sunday Times Style.  Julia Kennedy photographed these pictures, it was styled by Flossie Saunders, Peter Lux styled the models' hair, and the makeup was done by Elias Hove. This crew created something beautiful with this shoot, and we can't get over Liz as a curly-haired blond.  Or I guess the new term is bronde. Its a look we haven't yet seen on Liz, and we have to say, she totally pulls it off. We have yet to see photos of Liz's time in London this summer that we haven't loved, and we have a feeling that's not going to change.

Major Moment Monday: Sophie Skloss for Burberry

The other day I was doing a little online browsing and who did I see on the front of the Women's clothing section of the Burberry website? Our very own Sophia Skloss!  You may remember when Sophia walked in Burberry's runway show, we posted about it here. I'm not surprised that Sophia's photo is up so prominently on their site, look at how beautiful she looks draped in that poncho (which by the way is to die for!).  This may be old news to Sophia, but we think when you are on the website of a designer as iconic as Burberry, it is pretty MAJOR!

Georgia Weeks for PETRIe Magazine

Our model Georgia Weeks is on a roll! Earlier this week we posted about her editorial in Nylon Magazine, and today we have these stunning pictures from her editorial in PETRIe Magazine.  Helen Eriksson photographed the editorial, and she did a really incredible job.  You may remember that Eriksson recently photographed another one of our models, Madison Moehling.

Congrats on another beautiful editorial Georgia! You have some really amazing editorials under your belt, and we are so proud of you.

Liz Kennedy in London

At this point I'm thinking it would be difficult to take a bad photo of our model Liz Kennedy. When we scouted Liz in Minnesota, we knew she had a face like we had never seen, and we HAD to represent her.  We will forever be grateful that she and her family trusted us to launch and manage her career, and now we're thinking there are plenty of photographers, agents, bookers, editors, etc. that are so glad we started her career.

Over the summer Liz (and her best friend, Olivia Hamilton) spent some time in London, and we have to say the pictures we are seeing from her time over there are some of her best pictures yet!  Lately Liz has a confidence we can see in her photos that we can't get enough of.  While in London Liz is placed with The Hive Management in London, and we think they were a great fit for her.
