Hazel in Columbia!

Our model Hazel Eakman is in New York city right now, in the midst of the blizzard, and wishing she were back in Columbia. Hazel recently booked the advertising campaign for Seven Seven and we loved all of the behind the scenes pics she posted on her instagram while she was in Columbia. To think that last winter Hazel was a high school senior in Minnesota, and this year she lives in New York and was jetting down to Columbia for a job is pretty amazing. (And not just any job, one complete with drone photography!) We are loving taking this adventure with you Hazel, and can't wait to see the final images for this campaign.

Olivia Hamilton on Health

Well apparently this week is Liz and Olivia week, but these two beautiful best friends keep providing us with material that is too good not to share with all of you. Yesterday morning Olivia Hamilton posted a Facebook status about health that really verbalized exactly what we try to tell our models all the time. In order to model you have to have a certain figure, and really it is more about keeping up your overall health, than just losing weight. In order to be able to model you have to have the stamina to be in front of the camera (which sometimes entails running, jumping, dancing, etc.), not to mention be able to run from casting to casting, and be able to do a lot of it in stilettos. Having models who will be able to keep themselves healthy is key, because if a model is starving herself to just be thin there is no way she will be able to keep up with her career (not to mention how unhealthy that is!).

Olivia said, "I think a lot of people struggle with the concept of health. Just because someone's skinny doesn't mean they are healthy and just because someone is healthy doesn't mean they are skinny. Any size person can be malnourished and any size person can be healthy to a degree. The difference is a diet of veggies, fruit, lean proteins, and whole grains versus a diet of skipping meals, restricting calories, etc. With the right amount of healthy portion control, healthy foods, and exercising, your results will be far better than the other route. I don't understand why people choose to do it the unhealthy way instead of increase their life span and live a happy, healthy life. In the long run that's what matters."

So the moral of the story is, we want you all to be healthy, especially as the New Year approaches and everyone is making their resolutions. Don't look for short cuts to a perfect body, instead focus on your overall health and choose a way to get healthy that you can sustain for the long run.

Hazel Eakman's Star Wars Inspired Makeup for Refinery 29

Refinery 29 teamed up with CoverGirl to share some makeup looks inspired by Star Wars, and our model Hazel Eakman was one of the models for the feature. Last week we posted about Hazel modeling a Star Wars shirt for Macy's, so we weren't exaggerating when we said the force is strong with Hazel. Apparently she is our go-to model for all things Star Wars, and judging by the movie's box office records, being linked to Star Wars: The Force Awakens isn't a bad thing! Once again Hazel looks incredible, and this makeup has us embracing our inner fangirl!

Supermodels and Social Media

Liz Kennedy and Olivia Hamilton in Japan

"The impact of the Internet on the modeling industry cannot be overstated." -- VOGUE

Last week Vogue ran an incredibly insightful article about models, the impact of social media on their careers, and how live-streaming will affect their online following.  It is no secret that a model's number of followers on sites like Instagram and Twitter, can be the deciding factor if he/she books a job.  In fact now when we meet our models for their Dolls Model Management test shoots, we discuss social media with them. It is too important not to have a candid discussion with them about it,  especially when it comes to social media safety!

If you're interested in the article, (and if you're one of our models you NEED to read it), click here to read it in its entirety.

Badly Drawn Models

Georgia Weeks and Hazel Graye Eakman

Are you all familiar with Badly Drawn Models? Lisbon-based artist, Sean Ryan, has become a pop-culture phenomenon by posting his sketches of models, designers, and other celebrities online.  Some of his most popular subjects include Cara Delevingne, Coco Rocha, Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Candice Swanepoel and the list goes on and on. Basically its now come to the point that being one of his drawings is a sign that you've "made it" in the modeling world. These drawing have been getting a lot of press lately, most notably in the Huffington Post, Elle Magazine, Refinery 29, i-D Magazine and Buzz Feed.

In a collaboration with an editorial in the latest issue of Open Lab Magazine, two of our models got side-by-side sketches by Sean Ryan himself!  Georgia Weeks and Hazel Eakman have now joined the club of models that have been immortalized (badly), and we think it's awesome.  Their sketches can be found on the Open Lab Instagram.

Ali Stephens, a model we discovered years ago, has also been sketched and is included on the Badly Drawn Models Instagram page.  Ali is one of the most successful models we have ever managed, and it doesn't surprise us to see her on this page.

Teen Vogue #modelmonday featuring Sophia Skloss

Pulse Management model, Sophia Skloss was recently featured in Teen Vogue's #modelmonday compilation.  #modelmonday is a recurring feature on Teen Vogue's instagram, where they show some new faces in the modeling industry that they have requested to see and deem noteworthy.  Seeing our model Sophia Skloss pop up in the slideshow recently was exciting to say the least!

Sophia just wrapped up Milan Fashion Week, and we are looking forward to seeing what she does next.  This girl is on a hot streak right now, and we don't see any signs of it (or her) slowing down!

Side note: You may remember that two of our other models (Georgia Weeks and Hazel Eakman) were featured in #modelmonday as we posted about here.  So clearly, we are huge fans of #modelmonday.
